The Bride, The Lamb’s Wife

THE BRIDE, THE LAMB’S WIFE

SECTION I. THE BODY IS NOT THE BRIDE: THE FOUNDATIONAL DISTINCTION

The Single Greatest Error in Modern Christianity

The single most pervasive and damaging error in modern Christianity is the identification of the Church — the Ekklesia — as the Bride of Christ. This error has corrupted every downstream teaching on the marriage of the Lamb, the identity of Israel, and the nature of the coming kingdom. It must be dismantled before anything else can be rightly understood.

The Greek word Ekklesia, rendered "Church" in English, means a body, an assembly, the called-out ones. In Ephesians 5, the passage most frequently cited to make the Church into a Bride, Paul never calls the Ekklesia the Bride. He does not say "a glorious Bride" — he says "a glorious Ekklesia." In verse 23, the Ekklesia is called the Body. In verse 24, it is subject unto Christ. In verse 27, it is holy without blemish. In verse 30, it is again His Body. In verse 31, it is one flesh with Him. Nowhere in the passage does Paul call it the Bride.

Paul's entire argument in Ephesians 5 is directed at husbands. He is telling husbands to love their wives as their own bodies — the same way Christ nourishes the Ekklesia as his own body. He is not establishing an identity between the Ekklesia and a bride. He is establishing an identity between the Ekklesia and a body. Jesus Christ is not said to be the husband of the Ekklesia. He is said to be the head of His own body.

If Paul intended to teach that the body of believers would become the Bride of Christ, he had a perfect opportunity in verse 27 to write: "that He might present it to Himself a glorious Bride." He did not. He wrote "glorious Ekklesia." That choice of word is not incidental. It is definitive. Paul is drawing a parallel from marriage to convey the closeness of the relationship between Christ and the Ekklesia — but he is plainly not saying they are one and the same thing. He says in verse 32: "This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church." The word "but" marks the contrast. The marriage parallel is illustrative, not definitional.

The same logic holds in 1Corinthians 12. The entire argument of that chapter is the unity of many members within one Body. Verses 12, 13, 18, 20, 24, 25 — every reference is to the Body. "Now ye are the Body of Christ, and members in particular" (v. 27). Paul says this plainly, repeatedly, and without ambiguity. He never says "ye are the Bride." Colossians 1:17-18 is equally plain: "He is the Head of the Body, the Church." Head of the Body. Not husband of the Bride.

When Paul in 2Corinthians 11:2 says he has "espoused you to one husband that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ," he is using marriage as a parallel — exactly as he does in Ephesians 5. He is not declaring the church to be the Bride. He is describing the standard of purity and devotion that ought to characterize those presented to Christ. These verses are read into, not read out of. Paul says in verse 32: "This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church." The word "but" marks a contrast — the marriage parallel is illustrative, not definitional. Paul himself signals the distinction.

The tradition of the church as Bride did not arise from careful exegesis. It came to us through Rome. Rome declared itself the mystical Bride of Christ — an institutional self-identification that served Rome's claim to exclusive spiritual authority over all Christendom. Rome's nuns were deemed mystically betrothed to Jesus, wearing the wedding ring as the outward sign of that betrothal. This Roman theological tradition — the institutional church as the Bride of the heavenly Bridegroom — was then read back onto Paul's text in Ephesians 5 and 2Corinthians 11:2, and it has remained embedded there ever since, treated as though Paul put it there, when in fact Rome put it there. Protestantism threw out Rome's priesthood, Rome's sacraments, and Rome's pope, but kept Rome's Bride doctrine without examining it. That is how we got here.

The word "espoused" in Greek carries the meaning of presenting — of setting apart with the care a father exercises over a daughter before her wedding — not of formal betrothal establishing the church as the Bride-identity itself. Paul is the careful guardian of purity, not the officiant of a wedding between Christ and the Ekklesia. That distinction collapses entirely when the Roman tradition is allowed to sit between the reader and the text. Remove the tradition, read the Greek, follow Paul's own argument — and the church-as-Bride reading cannot be sustained for a single verse.

The Contradiction This Error Creates

The phrases in Ephesians 5 — "subject unto Christ" and "one flesh with Him" — describe a wife, not a bride. A bride does not become one flesh with her husband until after the ceremony. Under the law of marriage in the Old Testament, the betrothed woman remained under her father's authority until the ceremony was completed. Paul cannot have been describing a bride at all — the very language he uses applies to a completed marriage, not an anticipated one.

This creates an unanswerable contradiction for those who insist the Church is the Bride: if Christians are already one flesh with Jesus and already subject to Him as a wife, why is there still a future marriage ceremony in Revelation? The marriage of the Lamb is plainly future — it takes place after the destruction of Mystery Babylon (Revelation 19:7). If the Church is already the wife — already one flesh — what exactly is this future ceremony?

The answer is that the Church is not the Bride. The Bride is something else entirely, and the New Testament passages have been systematically misread to avoid that conclusion.

The Body Is Masculine — The Bride Is Feminine — The Root Error

Modern dispensationalism has committed a category error so fundamental it corrupts every doctrine downstream: it has feminized the Body of Christ by making the Church the Bride. This is theological incoherence. Jesus Christ is masculine. Therefore the Body of Christ is masculine. The head cannot be masculine and the body feminine. The body takes the gender of its head.

The Bride, by contrast, is explicitly and deliberately feminine. She is called "she." She is adorned. She is prepared for her husband. She is feminine in every description. If the Church is the Body — masculine, united to the masculine head — and the Bride is feminine, they cannot be the same entity. Conflating them produces a theological monstrosity with a masculine head and a feminine body, a creature without coherent existence.

Ephesians 2:15 and 4:13 make this plain: Paul speaks of building the Ekklesia into "one new man," and "a perfect man." The Ekklesia is masculine because its head is masculine. In Acts 26, when Saul persecuted the church, Jesus said "why persecutest thou Me?" — because when Paul persecuted the body he persecuted the head. Jesus is masculine; accordingly His body must also be masculine.

In complete contrast, the New Testament continues the Old Testament representation of Israel as a woman. Revelation 12 presents the sun-clothed woman — a figure whose every detail directs us back to the family of Jacob Israel through Genesis 37, the travailing birth of Genesis 35 and 38, the wilderness of Hosea 2 and Jeremiah 31, and the appointed place of 2Samuel 7. National Israel is feminine throughout both testaments. The church is masculine. They are related — the church issues from within Israel — but they are not the same entity, and the confusion of one with the other is the root error from which the rapture doctrine, the Gentile-church-bride doctrine, and the displacement of Israel all flow.

The correct distinction is this: the Church (Ekklesia) is the Body of Christ — masculine, called-out from within the national body of Israel, built by Christ (Matthew 16:18), endowed with offices (1Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4), functioning as the spiritual guardian of the kingdom. The Bride is national Israel — feminine, not built but born, a genetic family defined by covenant, ancestry, and blood through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The kingdom is not part of the church; the church is part of the kingdom. The church is the Ekklesia, the called-out congregation. Israel is a nation — an Ethnos/Goy — and this is exactly what Jesus says in Matthew 21:43: the kingdom will be given to a nation, not to an Ekklesia, bringing forth the fruits thereof.

The song "The Church, the Bride" played on Christian radio is hymn-book theology — false doctrine set to music, repeated millions of times until the lie becomes the assumed background of all Christian thought on the subject. If that phrase does not occur in the Bible — and it does not — it has no business being sung as though it does.

The New Testament Is Not the Starting Point

The error is compounded by the way most Christians approach the scriptures. New Christians are generally encouraged to start reading in the New Testament. For many, the New Testament becomes their only testament. The result is that faulty theology is built on ignorance of the foundation, and that faulty theology is then forced back onto the Old Testament to make it fit. Everything is turned upside down.

Jesus himself corrected this approach. On the road to Emmaus, He rebuked His disciples as "fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken," and "beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself" (Luke 24:25-27). The New Testament is the Old Testament unfolded. The Old Testament is the New Testament enfolded. Together they are the whole testament. We are not meant to be Old Testament Christians nor New Testament Christians. We are meant to be whole-testament Christians, and the whole testament must be read in the order in which it unfolds: from Moses and all the prophets forward. When that is done, the identity of the Bride is not ambiguous for a single moment.

The Original Wedding — Exodus 24

The marriage between God and Israel did not begin in Revelation. It began at Mount Sinai in Exodus 24. Revelation 19 is the consummation and remarriage; Exodus 24 is the original covenant wedding. These two events are the same marriage in two stages — first contracted, then fulfilled.

Exodus 24 contains every element of a formal marriage covenant. The parties: Yahweh as bridegroom, Israel as bride. The mediator: Moses, who officiated the wedding. The witnesses: Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy elders of Israel — seventy-four men who were part of the bridegroom's company. The vow: "All the words which the Lord hath said will we do" (v. 3) — spoken by the whole people with one voice, stated twice (vv. 3 and 7). The book: the book of the covenant was read aloud to the people before the vow. The altar: built under the hill with twelve pillars, one for each tribe. The blood: half the blood of the sacrificial animals was sprinkled on the altar; half on the people. The shedding of blood ratified the covenant — blood in the Old Testament denotes the binding ratification of a covenant. This was the sealing of the marriage. The feast: after the ceremony, Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the seventy elders went up the mountain and saw God and did eat and drink (v. 11). The Lord laid not His hand in judgment upon them. He furnished the meal. This was the marriage supper — the wedding feast that followed the ceremony.

The pattern of Exodus 24 is the Old Testament type of the New Testament marriage supper of the Lamb. At Sinai: vow, blood, feast. At Calvary: new covenant, shed blood, and the promise of the coming feast. The first Pentecost was the giving of the law on tables of stone and incorporated marriage to Israel. The greater Pentecost of Acts 2 — of which Sinai was a shadow — was the giving of the law not on tables of stone but in fleshly tables of the heart (2Corinthians 3:3). Of necessity, this greater Pentecost also incorporated remarriage to Israel. In Isaiah 54:5 — which describes the results of Calvary as recorded in Isaiah 53 — we read: "For thy Maker is thine Husband." Not will be. Not shall become. Is. The rebetrothment and remarriage began at Pentecost. The marriage supper of the Lamb in Revelation 19 is the final public consummation of what commenced in Acts 2.

SECTION II. THE BRIDE IDENTIFIED: NEW JERUSALEM, THE LAND, AND THE COVENANT CITY

What the Angel Actually Shows

The dominant teaching in modern denominational Christianity holds that the Bride of Christ is a Gentile church — a non-Israel body of believers who will be snatched off the earth in a rapture, taken to heaven for the marriage supper, while "Israel" (meaning the Jews, in their theology) remains on earth to endure the tribulation. This teaching is not found in Revelation. When the angel says "Come, I will show thee the Bride," he does not show a body of Gentile believers. He shows a holy city with Israel's tribal names on its gates.

Ezekiel had already named these gates centuries before John saw them. Three gates northward — Reuben, Judah, Levi. Three gates eastward — Joseph, Benjamin, Dan. Three gates southward — Simeon, Issachar, Zebulun. Three gates westward — Gad, Asher, Naphtali (Ezekiel 48:31-34). The arrangement John saw in vision was not new architecture. It was the fulfillment of what Ezekiel had already blueprinted. Revelation 21 is not introducing a new city. It is revealing the completion of the one the prophets had already drawn. The Bride was not a New Testament surprise. She was the Old Testament program arriving at its appointed destination.

The foursquare geometry of the city carries this same deliberateness across the whole of scripture. The breastplate of the High Priest in Exodus 28 was foursquare — set with twelve stones, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel. The tabernacle in the wilderness was foursquare. The sheet in Peter's vision in Acts 10 — which is not primarily about food but about the lost and dispersed Israelites being made clean through the blood of Christ — was foursquare, let down from heaven by four corners, containing every kind. The wilderness encampment of Numbers 2, where four brigades camped on the four compass points with the Levites in the center, was foursquare. The pattern is consistent and it is deliberate: what is foursquare and set with the twelve tribe stones belongs to Israel, and to Israel only. The kingdom of God is measured to fit Israel. Nothing about this city accidentally accommodates another people. Every dimension, every geometry, every detail of the Bride points to the same family — the covenant family of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

There are no prophecies anywhere in the scriptures that indicate the Lord would change from the Old Testament to the New. He cannot change. He did not change. There are no indications anywhere that the Israelite people would change, that the Lord would marry another people, or that the name and title of Israel would become a term designating another people — anyone and everyone from all the families of the earth, a "spiritual Israel" in the widely-used modern sense. Anyone who says this ought to be made to find it in the text. It is not there.

This error is preached from pulpits and over radio to millions of people. The doctrine has been so thoroughly embedded by hymn-book theology, seminary education, and mass media distribution that most Christians never question it. But it cannot be reconciled with what the angel actually shows John.

The Land Is Also the Bride

One of the most overlooked dimensions of the marriage prophecy is that the land itself is involved. This is not symbolic ornamentation. Isaiah states it plainly.

Isaiah 62:4 — "Thy land shall be married." The word Beulah means married. The land is given a new name meaning married. Not just the people — the land.

Isaiah 62:5 — "As a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee; and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee." The sons of Israel are said to marry the land. This is a dimension of the marriage ceremony entirely absent from modern preaching. There is more to the marriage of the Lamb than the reunion of God with a people. The land itself — the actual geographic territory of regathered Israel — is part of what is married.

Isaiah 60:21 — "They shall inherit the land forever." This Bride is not taken to heaven. This is a land, inherited by the Israelite people. The Bride is on the earth.

Revelation 21:24 — "The nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it, and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it." Kings of the earth walk into New Jerusalem. Kings of the earth are on the earth. New Jerusalem is therefore accessible from the earth — it is a terrestrial reality, not an otherworldly one. These are not descriptions of a celestial abode for departed souls. They are descriptions of a kingdom established in a land, on this earth, inhabited by the Israelite people, with nations walking in its light and kings bringing tribute.

New Jerusalem Is a City — With All That Implies

A city is not a cloud. A city is not a celestial library where the saved float in eternal church service. A city contains government, agriculture, science, industry, social life, commerce, law, education, and a structured hierarchy of rulership. Jesus told His disciples they would sit on twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes — they are rulers in this city. He told His servants in the parable that those who occupied well would have authority over ten cities and five cities respectively. The kingdom has administrators at multiple levels. It is a functioning civilization, not a perpetual worship service.

The tree of life bears twelve manner of fruit, one for each month. This is not arbitrary. Each tribe was given specific characteristics and blessings by Jacob (Genesis 49) and Moses (Deuteronomy 33). These tribal endowments are not cancelled by history or dispersal — they are fulfilled in the kingdom age: Judah for rulership and worship, Issachar for engineering and construction, Zebulun for maritime commerce, Reuben for law enforcement, Simeon for warfare, Gad for civil justice, Ephraim for exploration and settlement, Manasseh for material abundance, Benjamin for spiritual light and knowledge, Dan for civil courts and judgment, Asher for agriculture, Naphtali for literature and education.

What is notably absent from this city: the six-pointed star. It is not in Revelation 21 or 22. It appears in Acts 7 as "the star of Remphan" — a pagan symbol associated with the idolatry Israel was condemned for in the wilderness. It is not the symbol of true Israel. It is a Babylonian-Canaanite occult symbol falsely attached to the identity of God's people by those who claim to be Israel but are not.

What is also absent: silver. In the Old Testament, silver represented the Levitical priesthood. There is no silver in New Jerusalem because there is no Levitical priesthood. Jesus paid it all. There is no altar, no sacrifice, no temple, no separate priestly class. Levi takes his place among the twelve as a tribe, no longer segregated as a priestly caste. There is only a throne.

Revelation 21:22 — "I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it." The evangelical movement's project to build a third temple in old Jerusalem is not the plan of God. God destroyed five temples in the Old Testament era and one in the New. There is no seventh to be built. The tabernacle of God is with men — Christ dwells in His people and they dwell in Him.

The city has one street of pure gold, transparent as glass. Gold represents rulership. The government of Christ is transparent — no covert operations, no hidden agendas, no shadow power structures. Everything is clear.

The Wall Is Jasper — Truth and Light

The wall is jasper. Jasper represents Benjamin, the tribe of light. The wall of New Jerusalem is not brick and mortar. It is truth, light, knowledge, and understanding. Truth is what protects the city. The ability to discern the lie from the truth is the wall. No liar can penetrate a wall of truth. No false teacher, no deceiver, no counterfeit can scale a wall made of genuine knowledge and understanding.

Jeremiah 2:32 makes the bride's identity sharp from the negative direction: "Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet My people have forgotten Me days without number." No bride forgets her wedding garments. The fact that Israel has forgotten God while a bride cannot forget her ornaments is the indictment — the covenant people have become something no natural bride could ever be. This verse presupposes that Israel is the bride. The metaphor only cuts if the identity is already assumed.

The Restrictions — Who Does Not Enter

Revelation 21:27 — "There shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life."

Nothing that defiles enters. Nothing that works abomination enters. Nothing that makes a lie enters. These are not vague moral qualifications. In the context of the whole of scripture, defilement is specific: it is the defilement of the covenant people through intermarriage with other races and through the worship of other gods. Abomination is specific: it is the particular abomination of Canaanite religion — the sodomy, the child sacrifice, the perversion. And making a lie is specific: it is what those do who claim to be Israel and are not, who say they are Judah and are not, whom the Lord in Revelation 2:9 and 3:9 identifies as the synagogue of Satan.

The exclusions from New Jerusalem are not arbitrary moral generalizations. They are the precise exclusions that identify the Bride: a people free from the defilement of racial mixture, free from the abominations of Canaanite worship, and free from the lie of false identity. Only those written in the Lamb's book of life enter — and the Lamb's book of life is the book of the covenant family, those born into the household of the covenant through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

SECTION III. THE IDENTITY OF THE COVENANT PEOPLE: RACE, ANCESTRY, AND SUPERNATURAL ORIGIN

The Covenant Is Racial — Not Universal

The covenant promises of God to Israel — to make them a great nation, to give them a new land, to make them the head and not the tail, to cause them to inherit the land forever — have been fulfilled among the white European peoples of the earth, not among the people today called Jews.

The Ekklesia is an Israelite institution. The Greek word ekklesia was used in ancient Greece for the called-out assembly of free citizens who administered the affairs of state. The translators of the Greek Septuagint introduced this word for the Hebrew qahal — the assembly of Israel. Stephen, addressing the council before his martyrdom, said "This is he that was in the church in the wilderness" (Acts 7:38) — the church in the wilderness being Israel at Sinai. The church was not a new institution starting at Pentecost. What happened at Pentecost was the renewal and empowering of an old institution. The church has always been a congregation within Israel, and wherever the Israel kingdom people have traveled in their westward migration, a righteous body known as the church has been present.

The Pauline letters — Romans, Hebrews, the epistles of James and Peter — are written to the Israelite people. James 1:1: "to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad." 1Peter 1:1: "to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia" — the same people of the Assyrian diaspora, scattered into the locations where the house of Israel settled after their captivity. The word "scattered" in Peter's greeting is the Greek diaspora, Strong's G1290, specifically designating the dispersion — not the Roman dispersion of AD 70, which had not yet happened when Peter wrote. Peter is writing to the House of Israel in their dispersal. These strangers are called "elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father" — the word foreknowledge being the Greek progenosko, meaning to know beforehand. Who did the Lord know beforehand? Amos 3:2 answers: "You only have I known of all the families of the earth." The Israelite people are the foreknown, the elect, the chosen.

Christianity went westward because our Israelite people, the kingdom, went westward. The Holy Spirit directed Paul to go westward — because it was in the west that the dispersed house of Israel was located. This is why Christianity is a western religion to this day: it has its seat in the west by design, because the Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, Germanic, Scandinavian, and kindred European peoples are the literal lineal descendants of the house of Israel of the scriptures.

The Anglo-Saxon and Kindred Peoples Are Israelites

The covenant people are not the generic "church." They are not an abstraction. They are the Anglo-Saxon, Scandinavian, Celtic, Germanic, and kindred European peoples — Israel by blood and by inheritance. The covenant flows through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to the twelve sons of Jacob, through the twelve tribes, through the Assyrian dispersal, through the westward migration of the Israel people, into the Europe from which Christian civilization was built and from which the colonization of the new land of Zion proceeded.

The covenant people carry the marks of the covenant in their national history: the great nations, the company of nations (Genesis 35:11), the colonization of the earth, the possession of the gates of their enemies (Genesis 22:17), the head and not the tail, the maritime power, the agricultural abundance. These marks belong to the Anglo-Saxon and kindred peoples of Europe and their descendants. They do not belong to the people today called Jews, who have never colonized the earth, never produced the great nations of Genesis 35:11, and whose power is financial and political, not agricultural and national.

The Jews Are Not Israel

The people today known as Jews follow a religion called Judaism, the basis of which is the Talmud, not the Bible. The Talmudic religion is not the Old Testament Hebrew religion of Israel. It is derived from what certain of the Jews brought back from their Babylonian captivity. If one converts to Judaism, one becomes a fully-fledged Jew — it is religion, not racial ancestry, that designates the modern Jew. This means the term "Jew" has expanded far beyond any biological meaning it may once have had.

The majority of those calling themselves Jews today are Ashkenazim Jews — Jews by conversion to Judaism — who are not even Jewish in the traditional Judahite sense, let alone Israelite. The Edomites were wholesale absorbed into Judaea at approximately 125-126 BC when they were conquered by John Hyrcanus and forcibly converted to the religious traditions of the Judaeans. The historian H.G. Wells writes of the influx of proselytes into the Jewish community during the Babylonian captivity — Ammonites, Moabites, Babylonians, "and a great number of others" who "thrust their company upon the returning Judahites" and claimed Abraham as their father without any actual ancestry to him. Esther 8:17 records that "many of the people of the land became Judahites" for fear — conversions of convenience. The Jewish encyclopedia itself states: "Edom is in modern Jewry."

Genesis 36:8  Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.

Edom is in modern Jewry.” —The Jewish Encyclopedia, 1925 edition, Vol.5, p.41

Jesus Christ told the Jewish leaders of His day to their face that they did not believe Moses (John 5:46-47). He told them their father was the devil (John 8:44). In John 8, some of these Jews claimed they had "never been in bondage to any man" — an astonishing claim for supposed descendants of Israel, who were slaves in Egypt for almost two hundred years. This points to men who were of Abraham's seed through Esau but who had never been in the Egyptian captivity because Esau's line was not there. They were in Seir. Jesus acknowledged they were Abraham's seed but said their father was the devil, not God. And seed is not the same as children.

In Matthew 13, in the parable of the wheat and the tares, Jesus identifies the tares as "the children of the wicked one" sown in the kingdom. Their destruction is decreed — not their conversion. Revelation 2:9 and 3:9 — "I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews (Judah) and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan." This is not a marginal verse. It is the Lord's own identification of impostors masquerading as the Judah and Israel people of the scriptures.

“Jews began to call themselves Hebrews and Israelites in 1860″ —Encyclopedia Judaica 1971 Vol 10:23

"Strictly speaking it is incorrect to call an ancient Israelite a ‘Jew’ or to call a contemporary Jew an Israelite or a Hebrew." (1980 Jewish Almanac, p. 3).

The question is simple: if the twelve tribes of Israel must have their names on the gates of New Jerusalem, and if the Bride hath made herself ready for the marriage — are the modern Jews ready? The answer is self-evident. They are not.

Hebrews 12 — Do Not Despise the Birthright

Hebrews 12:15-17 is addressed specifically to Christian Israelite people: "Looking diligently, lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness bringing up trouble you; lest there be any fornicator or profane person as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears."

This is a warning to our Israelite people not to despise their own birthright — not to treat the truth of their identity as Israelites as something inconvenient or worth trading away for social comfort, political acceptance, or ease. When someone who is beginning to understand the truth of Israelite identity turns away from it and says "it doesn't mean anything to me," they are doing exactly what Esau did. They are despising the birthright. The warning of Hebrews is specific: Esau found no place of repentance. He could not undo what he had done even with tears.

The Supernatural Race — Isaac as New Creation

Isaac, the father of this race, was a new creation. Sarah's womb was dead. Abraham was old. God supernaturally renewed the womb so that she could conceive and bear a child. Isaac was not produced by ordinary human biology. His birth required a miracle of God. The race of Isaac's sons was brought into existence by a supernatural act. They are a supernatural race. The covenant began with a miracle and will end with a miracle.

The family of Abraham — Isaac, Jacob, the twelve sons, the twelve tribes, the Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, Germanic, Scandinavian, and kindred peoples of Europe who are their physical descendants — are the people out of whose history and whose land this city will come. Abraham looked for "a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God" (Hebrews 11:10). He did not know exactly what he was looking for. But he knew it was a city — a structured, governed, founded reality — and that God was its architect. We are reading about that city. We are the people of that city. That city comes out of the loins of Abraham through Isaac.

God's promise in Isaiah 66:22 is to Israel specifically: "For as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make shall remain before Me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain." The seed of Israel remains on the earth. The name of Israel remains. New Jerusalem is not the rapture of Israel out of the earth — it is the perfection of Israel upon the earth, in the earth, as a government and social order that covers the earth and from which the light of God goes out to all nations.

SECTION IV. THE DIVORCE, THE REMARRIAGE, AND THE TWO HOUSES RECONCILED

The Marriage at Sinai and the Unfaithfulness That Followed

Israel, the wife of Yahweh from Sinai forward, was unfaithful. Her sins fall into two categories. Adultery — going after foreign lovers, meaning foreign nations and foreign alliances, running after other peoples rather than trusting God alone. Idolatry — going after foreign gods. The first commandment at Sinai was "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." Israel violated it repeatedly. Idolatry in God's law is treated as marital unfaithfulness because it is — it is a wife giving herself to another man.

For these two sins — adultery and idolatry — God issued a formal bill of divorce. Jeremiah 3:8 — "I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce." Hosea 2:2 — "She is not My wife, neither am I her husband." The marriage was legally dissolved.

The Division of the Kingdom and the Two Dispersions

When Israel split into two kingdoms at approximately 975 BC, the tabernacle of David — the united kingdom of all Israel under the house of David — was broken down and left in ruins. The two houses did not like each other. Ephraim envied Judah; Judah vexed Ephraim (Isaiah 11:13). The breach was real, historical, and prophetically significant.

The House of Israel went into Assyrian captivity between 745 and 721 BC — the first diaspora, the one that most Christians entirely overlook because they conflate it with the much later Roman diaspora of the Jews in AD 70. This was no small matter: 2Kings 18:13 records that Sennacherib also took 200,150 people from the fenced cities of Judah along with Israel into the Assyrian captivity.

The House of Israel, driven beyond the Euphrates, the Tigris, and the Zagros mountains, lost the name Israel and became known as the Gentiles. They became "not a people" (Hosea 1:9). They became aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world (Ephesians 2:12). This is the background of the prodigal son — a son who took his inheritance, wasted it in riotous living, eventually came to himself and returned to his father. Hosea 2:7 says the same thing: she shall return to her first husband, for then was it better with me than now.

The House of Judah, the southern kingdom, was not divorced at this time. Hosea 11:12 makes the distinction explicit: "Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints." The Lord remained in marital relationship with Judah — though Judah was also treacherous, and over a hundred years later was sent into Babylonian captivity for seventy years of punishment, not permanent divorce. A remnant returned to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple. This distinction is not incidental. It is structurally necessary: if the Lord had also divorced the house of Judah, Jesus Christ would have been born out of wedlock. The Lord remained in marital covenant with Judah precisely so that the promised seed could come through a line that was not under the bill of divorcement.

This created a legal impasse of the highest order. The Lord wanted to remarry Israel. His own law prevented it. And the law could not simply be set aside — because God is legally bound to His own word. Psalm 138:2 — He has magnified His word above all His name. Numbers 23:19 — God is not a man that He should lie, neither the son of man that He should repent; hath He said and shall He not do it? Romans 11:29 — the gifts and calling of God are without repentance; they are irrevocable and cannot be transferred to another people. The promises must go to those to whom they were given. Psalm 119:89 — forever, O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven. Grace does not reign at the expense of righteousness — it reigns through it. The law and its demands must be met, including the law that made it impossible for the husband to simply take back his divorced first wife. A solution had to be found that satisfied every demand of the law without violating a single jot or tittle.

The Legal Mechanism of Remarriage

Under biblical law, a divorced woman cannot be remarried to her first husband if she has been married to another man in the interim (Deuteronomy 24:4). But there is a different provision: if the husband dies, the wife is free from the law of the husband and may remarry. Jesus Christ — who was the Lord who married Israel at Sinai — died on the cross. His death released Israel from the old covenant law, which had held her bound even in her divorced state. His resurrection then qualified Him to remarry her under a new covenant, because He came back to life.

He did not buy a different wife. He bought back — redeemed — the same wife. The Redeemer of Isaiah 54:5 is not bringing home a new bride. He is redeeming the one He lost. To redeem: you must first have owned it, then given it up, then buy back that very same thing, and you must be near of kin. Jesus Christ owned Israel — "You only have I known of all the families of the earth" (Amos 3:2). He gave Israel up — the divorce and captivity. He bought her back at Calvary. And He is near of kin — Israel's kinsman redeemer. The genealogy of Matthew 1 establishes the proof of identity. The price paid at Calvary was the outstanding redemption price. The law requires proof of identity and payment of the required amount. Both were met.

There was a second legal obstacle beyond the divorce law, and it was equally insurmountable under the law's own terms. The law of Leviticus 20:10 required the death of the adulteress. Both houses of Israel were adulteresses — the House of Israel explicitly divorced and condemned for going after foreign lovers and foreign gods, the House of Judah treacherous in the same manner. If the law required their death, and the law could not be set aside, then the bride could not be remarried — she would be dead. The legal path to remarriage would be permanently closed not only by the divorce statute but by the adultery statute as well.

Isaiah 53 records the resolution of this second obstacle. "He hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows… the Lord hath laid upon Him the iniquity of us all; for the transgression of My people was He stricken." Jesus died not only as the husband — annulling the bill of divorcement through His own death — but as the substitute who bore the death sentence both houses had incurred under the adultery law. The sentence was not set aside. It was carried out — on Him. The law was satisfied in full on both counts: the divorce law, resolved by the husband's death; the adultery law, resolved by the substitute's death. Neither was overridden. Both were met. This is the double work of Calvary that Isaiah 53 describes and that Isaiah 54 — the remarriage chapter — announces as its result. The canonical sequence is not accidental: chapter 53 is the cross-work, and chapter 54 is what that cross-work achieved. "For thy Maker is thine Husband" — not will be, not shall become, but is — because every legal obstacle to the remarriage was removed at Calvary, completely, and on the law's own terms.

The new covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-32) was not made with a Gentile church. It was made explicitly "with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah." God said "I was a husband unto them." Not a general benefactor, not a sovereign over subjects — a husband. The new covenant is a remarriage covenant with the same family He divorced. Hebrews 8:8-10 quotes Jeremiah 31 verbatim and establishes that this covenant is now in force. The "I wills" of God in the new covenant — I will make, I will put, I will be, I will forgive, I will remember — declare most assuredly that this new covenant is the be-all and end-all. It is everlasting. The old covenant failed because the people failed. The new covenant cannot fail because it depends on the Lord alone.

The Two Houses Reconciled Under Christ

The prophecy of Ezekiel 37 — two sticks, one for Ephraim and one for Judah, joined into one in the hand of the Lord — has been fulfilled. It was not deferred to a millennium. It was accomplished through Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 11:10-13 foretells a root of Jesse standing as an ensign, assembling the outcasts of Israel and gathering the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth, such that Ephraim shall no longer envy Judah and Judah shall no longer vex Ephraim. The one fold, one shepherd of John 10:16 is this promise in its New Testament fulfillment: "other sheep I have which are not of this fold" — those other sheep are the lost sheep of the House of Israel, the “Gentiles” (nations), the dispersed ones — "them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd."

After the death of Saul, King David initially reigned over Judah only. Israel in the north did not accept him. But seven and a half years later, all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron saying "Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh" (2Samuel 5:1), and David was made king over all Israel and Judah. This is the historical type of what Jesus Christ accomplished at Calvary — the greater King David, the root of Jesse of Isaiah 11:10, the David of Ezekiel 37:24.

Acts 15, the Jerusalem Council, is the New Testament landmark of this reunion. When the Gentiles — meaning the lost sheep of the House of Israel, coming in from the west and north where the Assyrian dispersion had taken them — began entering the new covenant in mass numbers, James declared under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit: "Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles (nations) to take out of them a people for His name. And to this agree the words of the prophets as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David which is fallen down" (Acts 15:14-16). The coming in of the Gentiles is the rebuilding of the tabernacle of David. The two houses are being brought back together. This was declared accomplished in Acts 15 by the mouth of James under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

How Paul Identifies the Gentiles

Paul removes all guesswork from the identity of the Gentiles in Romans 9:24-26, where he says "even us whom he hath called, not of the Jews (Judaeans) only, but also of the Gentiles (scattered Israel nations), as he saith also in Osee" — and then quotes Hosea chapter 1. Hosea 1 was written to the house of Israel. Paul is identifying the Gentiles of his day as the same people of whom Hosea 1 speaks — the house of Israel who became "not a people" but who would be called "the sons of the living God." She which was not beloved — the divorced house of Israel — is now coming back into marital relationship with the Lord. It is not just any body of Gentiles out there. It is the lost sheep of the house of Israel, now called by a new name. And that new name was Christian: "the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch" (Acts 11:26). Not Jews for Jesus. Not Messianic Jews. Christians.

Ephesians 2:11-18 confirms this. Those who were "Gentiles in the flesh," who had been "without Christ, being aliens (alienated) from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise" — the house of Israel in their divorced, dispersed condition — are now made nigh by the blood of Christ. The middle wall of partition is broken down. Of twain — of two — one new man is made, so making peace. Ephraim shall not envy Judah. Judah shall not vex Ephraim. They are one.

Isaiah 54:1 gives the proof: "more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife." The desolate wife — the House of Israel — was to bring forth more children under the new covenant than the married wife — the House of Judah. And she did. Christianity spread massively among the dispersed house of Israel in the west, while the Judah nation at a national level rejected Jesus and was destroyed by Rome in AD 70. The desolate wife brought forth multitudes. This is the New Testament in its proper frame.

The Kingdom of Judah — Good Figs and Evil Figs

The kingdom of Judah at the time of Jesus contained two distinct groups — good figs and evil figs, after the parable of Jeremiah 24. The good figs were mostly the common people who believed and accepted Jesus Christ. The evil figs were mostly the rulers of the Judaeans — the Herodians, Pharisees, Sadducees, scribes, and those at every level of management who controlled the kingdom and rejected Jesus. Both groups were called Jews (Judaeans). The Judaeans that believed feared the Jews that did not.

Jesus said of the evil figs: "ye believe not because ye are not of My sheep" (John 10:26). He said to their leaders: "Ye are of your father the devil" (John 8:44). He declared in Matthew 23:38: "your house is left unto you desolate." Not My house — your house. It had been taken over by wicked husbandmen.

The good figs accepted and obeyed Jesus Christ, and heeded His warning in Matthew 24:16: "Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains." They fled Jerusalem before the Roman siege of AD 70. They survived. They received a new name: Christians, first at Antioch (Acts 11:26). Isaiah 65:15 illuminates this: "Ye shall leave your name for a curse unto My chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call His servants by another name." The evil figs kept the stolen name. The good figs received the new name.

The evil figs went down with Jerusalem in AD 70. Josephus estimates approximately 1.1 million were killed, and the survivors were dispersed throughout the Roman Empire. The kingdom of Judah had a fretting leprosy — an incurable leprosy — and under the law of Leviticus 14, a house with fretting leprosy that could not be cleansed had to be torn down and its stones carried out of the city to an unclean place. The Romans fulfilled that law precisely.

Modern Jewry is the perpetuation of the evil figs of scripture — constituted for the most part of proselytes who have no lineal ancestry to any of the children of Israel, with Esau-Edom among them in a very large way. These have the religion of Judaism, not the Old Testament Hebrew religion of Israel. Their brotherhood with the House of Israel has been permanently broken (Zechariah 11:14). There is no new covenant with these people. Christians who seek to aid the reconstitution of the Jewish kingdom in the Middle East, who support what they believe to be the restoration of Israel while these people destroy their neighbors, are walking contrary to the will and law of God.

The New Covenant Is Everlasting

Natural marriage in the kingdom of God will not be carried over beyond the resurrection of the dead (Matthew 22:30; Mark 12:25; Luke 20:35). But the remarriage of Jesus to national Israel — the Bride, the Lamb's wife — is different in kind. It is not natural marriage. It is the typified marriage taking the foundations found in natural marriage and elevating them to their highest possibilities. This remarriage is everlasting. Hebrews 7:24-25 — Jesus "continueth forever" and "hath an unchangeable priesthood." Hebrews 10:14 — "by one offering He hath perfected forever them that are sanctified." Hebrews 13:20 — "through the blood of the everlasting covenant." This new covenant and this marriage are not subject to death and therefore not subject to its end.

The Remarriage Is Everlasting — Not Subject to Death

A natural question arises from the fact that the remarriage of the Lord to national Israel is patterned on the institution of marriage: does this marriage, like all natural marriages, end at death? The answer is no — and the scriptures are explicit on why.

Jesus addressed natural marriage directly in Matthew 22:30, Mark 12:25, and Luke 20:35: in the resurrection, men neither marry nor are given in marriage. Natural marriage belongs to this age and is not carried over beyond the resurrection of the dead. But the remarriage of Jesus Christ to national Israel — the Bride, the Lamb's wife — is not natural marriage. It is the institution of marriage taken to its highest and final form, the antitype of which every natural marriage in history has been only a shadow and a type. What ends in its shadow does not end in its fulfillment.

The everlasting character of this covenant is established by three witnesses in the book of Hebrews. Hebrews 7:24-25 — Jesus "continueth ever" and "hath an unchangeable priesthood; wherefore He is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them." A priesthood that is unchangeable and a savior who ever lives cannot be parties to a covenant that ends. Hebrews 10:14 — "by one offering He hath perfected forever them that are sanctified." The perfecting is forever. Not provisional. Not age-limited. Forever. Hebrews 13:20 names the covenant itself: "the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant." The blood that sealed the remarriage is the blood of an everlasting covenant. The covenant sealed with that blood shares its character — it is everlasting.

This is the final answer to every question about the permanence of God's purpose for Israel. He cannot divorce her again — because the new covenant was sealed with blood that speaks better things than the blood of Abel, and the testator who died to bring it into force rose again and "ever liveth." The old covenant failed because it depended on the people. The new covenant cannot fail because it depends on the Lord alone, and the Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever. What God joined together at Calvary, no law, no failure, no enemy, and no death shall put asunder.

SECTION V. THE BRIDE'S IDENTITY IN PROPHECY: AMERICA AS ZION

The Prophetic Parallels — Isaiah and Revelation

The visions of Revelation are not new prophecies. They verify and illuminate the prophecies already given through the Old Testament prophets. The specific description of New Jerusalem in Revelation 21 and 22 matches point for point the prophecies given by Isaiah in chapters 60, 61, and 62. These two bodies of Scripture must be read together, because they are describing the same thing.

Isaiah 60:19-20 — "The Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. Thy sun shall no more go down, neither shall thy moon withdraw itself." Revelation 21:23 — "The city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof." Same city. Same light source. Same condition.

Isaiah 60:21 — "Thy people also shall be all righteous; they shall inherit the land forever." Revelation 21:27 — "There shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth." Isaiah calls it a land. Revelation calls it a city. Both say only the righteous are there.

Isaiah 60:18 — "Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders." This is a description of a national territory at peace.

Isaiah 62:4 — the land is called Hephzibah and Beulah. Beulah means married. The land itself receives the name of the married state.

Isaiah 62:6-7 — watchmen are set on the walls of Jerusalem, and the people are commanded to "give Him no rest till He establish, and till He make Jerusalem a praise in the earth." Not a praise in heaven. A praise in the earth. This city, this land, this bride, must be a testimony visible to earthly nations and earthly kings.

A New Name — America

Isaiah 62:2 — "Thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name." God said the Israel people in their new homeland, the Zion of prophecy, would be called by a new name — not the old name of Israel or Jerusalem, but a new name given to them by the Lord Himself. That name was given. It is America.

The name America derives from the old Gothic AmalricAmal meaning heaven, ric meaning kingdom, the same root that survives today in the modern German Himmelreich, the standard German word for the Kingdom of Heaven. Professor Louis Miskovsky of Oberlin College wrote in the 1920s that America is "simply another form of the old Gothic Amalric" — Heaven's Kingdom — and called it "a marvelous appellation, and calculated to make us thoughtful." The Hebrew word Meluwkah (Strong's: kingdom) passed through the interchangeable l and r of ancient language into the Gothic as Merukah, then Amerucah, then into the Latin form America. The Gothic, the Hebrew, and the Germanic all arrive at the same place: the Kingdom of Heaven. This is the only nation on earth whose name means that. God said the new homeland of Israel would receive a new name. America is the only nation in history named Heaven's Kingdom.

Our people who came here knew it. They did not arrive in ignorance and attach a meaning to the name after the fact. They came with the knowledge already in their hearts, and the moment they landed they said exactly what they knew. When William Bradford stepped off the Mayflower in 1620 and set foot on the shore, he did not quote a psalm of general thanksgiving. He quoted Jeremiah: "Come let us declare in Zion the word of God." His first word for this land was Zion. Not wilderness. Not new world. Zion.

John Winthrop, aboard the Arbella in 1630, told the people crossing with him: "We must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill, the eyes of all people are upon us." A city upon a hill — the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:14, the words Isaiah used for Zion, the image that defines New Jerusalem. Winthrop did not say we are building a commercial colony. He said we are the city on the hill, and all the world is watching, and God will judge us accordingly.

Edward Johnson titled his 1654 history of New England The Wonder-Working Providence of Sion's Saviour in New England — the word Sion is in the title itself. To Johnson, what was happening in this land was not colonization. It was Sion's Providence unfolding.

Increase Mather, the foremost Puritan minister of his generation, said it directly: "Where was there ever a place so like unto New Jerusalem as New England hath been? It was once Dr. Twiss's opinion that when New Jerusalem should come down from heaven, America would be the seat of it." The seat of New Jerusalem. Said plainly, by name, in the seventeenth century, by the man who led the Israel people in this land. Cotton Mather named his 1710 theological essay Theopolis Americana — the American City of God. These men were not speaking in metaphor. They were speaking in covenant knowledge. They knew who they were. They knew where they had come to. They knew what this land was.

And they pressed that knowledge into the earth itself. The Israel people do not name things casually. Across the length and breadth of this continent they wrote what they knew into the geography: 18 Jerusalems, 30 Salems — the ancient name of Jerusalem — 83 Shilohs, where the first tabernacle of God stood, 34 Bethels, 27 Hebrons, 26 Goshens, 19 Jerichos, 18 Pisgahs. The hills and rivers and towns of America were named by a people who understood themselves to be Israelites naming the land of Israel. No other nation on earth carries a naming pattern like this. Not England. Not Germany. Not any European nation from which these people came. They left those lands without naming them Zion, because those lands were not Zion. When they arrived here, they named everything Zion — because they knew they had arrived. The ancient Chinese name for America translates as "the beautiful kingdom." Even the nations of the far east, looking at this land from the outside, recognized in it something the people of this land have mostly forgotten: that there is a kingdom here, and it was known before it was found, and it will be what it was always meant to be.

The Measurements of New Jerusalem

Revelation 21:16 — the angel measures the city with a golden reed: twelve thousand furlongs, equal in length, breadth, and height. This translates to approximately 1,500 miles in each dimension.

A 1,500-mile square superimposed on a map of the Middle East stretches from Romania to southern Egypt, from the Mediterranean coast to the middle of Iran — covering the entire region that modern fundamentalists claim is the future site of New Jerusalem. That region cannot contain such a city.

The same 1,500-mile square placed on North America fits inside the continental United States with a modest extension into Canada. The geography is not a proof in itself, but it is a confirmation: the entity described as the Bride of the Lamb in its dimensions corresponds to the size of a continental nation, not a small city-state in the Middle East.

The Mustard Seed Kingdom

Jesus taught two parables in Mark 4 specifically about the kingdom. The first (Mark 4:26-29): "So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground… first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear." The kingdom grows. It is not instantaneous. It is planted.

The second (Mark 4:30-32): the kingdom of God is like a grain of mustard seed — "less than all the seeds that be in the earth," but when sown it grows up and "becometh greater than all herbs." The kingdom is sown in the earth. It starts smaller than everything else and grows to be greater than everything else.

Isaiah 60:21-22 says the same: "A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation. I, the LORD, will hasten it in his time." Something small becomes the greatest.

America began with fewer than 300 people on the eastern shore of a vast, nearly uninhabited wilderness. No standing army. No government. No buildings. No recognition from any nation on earth. A handful of Christian people from northern Europe — largely from the British Isles — landing in the wilderness, building everything by hand, with no external support. That is the mustard seed.

Jewish Israeli, by contrast, was born with a complete army, a complete government, worldwide diplomatic recognition before its first day, and unlimited financial and military backing from both the United States and the Soviet Union. Israeli was not planted small and grown great. It was installed complete and has declined in influence ever since. It is the opposite of the mustard seed. It is the anti-pattern.

America, the nation built by Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, and Germanic people from the north of Europe — which Zechariah 2:6 describes as fleeing from "the land of the north" to a wilderness — fits every prophetic marker. Israel fled from the land of the north. America was colonized by people from northern Europe who fled from religious and political persecution and came into a great wilderness. Zechariah 2:4 says Jerusalem would be "inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle." The United States has tens of millions of cattle. The Arizona Republic alone processes more than 1,100,000 head of cattle per year. Jewish-controlled Palestine at its peak had 80,000 head of cattle — fewer than many individual ranches in the American West.

SECTION VI. THE WEDDING PARTY: THE BRIDEGROOM, THE FRIEND, THE SONS, AND THE TEN VIRGINS

Three Distinct Offices

One of the most neglected distinctions in the marriage theology of scripture is the identification of three separate companies with three separate roles in relation to the marriage. These are not the same group described three ways. They are three distinct offices with distinct functions, and the failure to distinguish them has produced a flat, undifferentiated theology of the Christian life in which everyone is invited to the same role, no one knows what their role is, and the wedding proceeds in confusion.

The Bridegroom — Jesus Christ

Jesus identified Himself as the Bridegroom explicitly and without qualification. Matthew 9:15 — "Can the children of the Bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them?" He is the bridegroom. He has a bride — national Israel. He is coming for her. The entirety of His ministry, death, resurrection, and return is the story of a bridegroom recovering and remarrying His divorced wife.

But this identification did not begin in Matthew. The Old Testament witnesses to the bridegroom are as strong as any in the New, and they must be heard.

Psalm 19:4-5 establishes the bridegroom's coming as a cosmic, daily declaration: "In them hath He set a tabernacle for the sun, which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race." Every sunrise is a covenant proclamation. Every morning, when the sun rises, it is performing the role of a witness — declaring that the real Bridegroom is coming out of his chamber for his real Bride. God set this sign in the heavens so that it would run every day of the age without ceasing. The sun rises every morning as a standing witness that the marriage will happen.

Hosea 2:19-20 contains the formal betrothal promise of the Lord to Israel, spoken in the language of a man betrothing a woman: "I will betroth thee unto Me forever; yea, I will betroth thee unto Me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. I will even betroth thee unto Me in faithfulness, and thou shalt know the Lord." The word betroth appears three times in two verses. This is the Lord speaking as a bridegroom. He is not speaking as a sovereign to a subject, or a general to an army, or a creator to a creature. He is speaking as a man who is going to marry a woman, and He is naming the terms of the betrothal: righteousness, judgment, lovingkindness, mercies, faithfulness. These are the covenant qualities that will characterize the remarriage that Calvary would accomplish. The bride He is speaking to is Israel — the same Israel He divorced in verse 2, the same Israel He drove into the wilderness, the same Israel He is now promising to bring back and betroth unto Himself forever.

The bride He is speaking to is Israel — the same Israel He divorced in verse 2, the same Israel He drove into the wilderness, the same Israel He is now promising to bring back and betroth unto Himself forever.

Zechariah 10:6 states the same promise in words that remove every qualification: "I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the LORD their God, and will hear them." As though I had not cast them off. Not pardoned in spite of the casting off. Not restored with the record of the divorce still standing. As though it never happened. That is the character of the remarriage the Lord is promising — not a reconciliation that carries the history of the breach, but a full restoration to the original standing, on the Lord's own word.

Isaiah 62:5 adds the dimension of rejoicing: "As the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee." The Lord rejoices over Israel with the specific joy of a bridegroom over a bride. Not the joy of a conqueror. Not the satisfaction of a sovereign. The joy of a husband who has his wife back. This is the emotional register of the marriage of the Lamb — and it is the Lord's own description of what that day will feel like to Him.

Jeremiah tracked the sound of the bridegroom across the entire arc of Israel's history and used it as the measure of the covenant relationship itself. Four times in Jeremiah, the voice of the bridegroom is mentioned in connection with the voice of the bride. When God pronounces judgment on Israel, He takes the voice away — Jeremiah 7:34, 16:9, and 25:10 all record the removal of "the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride" as the specific mark of covenantal rupture. The sound goes silent when the covenant is broken. When God promises restoration, He gives it back — Jeremiah 33:10-11: "Again there shall be heard in this place the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride." The return of the bridegroom's voice is the return of the covenant. It is not incidental wedding imagery. It is the pulse of the national covenant relationship, measured across centuries by one repeated phrase. Jeremiah heard it silenced in judgment. Jeremiah prophesied it restored in the new covenant. The voice of the bridegroom is the voice of the Lord, and when it goes out again over Israel in fullness, it will be the sound of the marriage restored.

Isaiah 54:5 — which follows directly from the substitutionary death of Isaiah 53 — names the result of the cross-work in one line: "For thy Maker is thine Husband." Not will be. Not shall become. Is. The husband and the maker are the same person. The one who created Israel is the one who married Israel. The one who divorced Israel is the one who redeemed Israel. And the one who redeemed Israel is the one who is coming again as the Bridegroom for his wife.

There is only one God, and therefore only one groom. Deuteronomy 6:4 — "The LORD our God is one LORD." Isaiah 45:5 — "I am the LORD, and there is none else." Isaiah 43:10-11 — "before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me; I, even I, am the LORD, and beside Me there is no saviour." If there is only one God, there can only be one groom. If there is only one groom, there can only be one bride. If the Lord promised in Hosea to remarry Israel, then the Israel who is the Bride of the Lamb in Revelation 21 must be the same people God betrothed to Himself in Hosea. The God who swore to betroth Israel unto Himself forever is the same God whose marriage to the holy city is announced in Revelation 19. The people must be the same people. Moreover — if the Lord were to have two brides, it would render Him ineligible to hold office in the church He Himself established. 1Timothy 3:2 — "A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife." Jesus is our great bishop. There is only one groom. There is only one wife.

The Friend of the Bridegroom — John the Baptist and the Company of Heralds

John the Baptist explicitly took this title for himself. John 3:29 — "He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled."

The friend of the bridegroom has a specific office: to introduce the bridegroom to the bride. John came for one purpose — to announce the bridegroom's arrival to national Israel. "Behold the Lamb of God" (John 1:29) was not merely a theological statement about atonement. It was the formal introduction of the bridegroom to His bride. "But that He should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing" (John 1:31) — his entire ministry was the introduction of the bridegroom to the bride.

John said, "I must decrease, He must increase." The friend of the bridegroom's work is done when the bridegroom has been introduced. He steps back. He does not compete. He does not hold his congregation. His joy is complete when the bridegroom and bride are brought together. John the Baptist's ministry was not a failure. It was a success. Had John's ministry failed, the word of the Lord would have failed. The Lord's word cannot fail.

Today, those who know who the Bride is, who know who the Bridegroom is, and who proclaim "Behold, the bridegroom cometh" are in the office and spirit of the friend of the bridegroom. The cry is still going out. Most of Israel has no ears for the cry yet — five of the ten virgins are asleep, their lamps going out — but the cry must still be made. There may well be a company being raised up today, filled with the Holy Spirit as John was filled, who know that Jesus Christ is coming not only as a savior but as the Bridegroom, and who know who the bride is and who can say in truth that He should be made manifest to Israel. This is the inner company. This is the narrow calling that most of the church world completely misses, because they think of Jesus only as a one-way ticket out of here.

The woman at the well in John 4 carries a dimension of this same story. She is a Samaritan — living in the territory of the former House of Israel, a land repopulated with foreign peoples after the Assyrian deportations (2Kings 17:24) but among whom true Israelite descendants still remained. She says to Jesus "our father Jacob, which gave us the well" — and Christ does not correct the claim. She is of Jacob's line. She has had five husbands — which can be read as the five successive empires that ruled over and punished the house of Israel in that land: Assyrian, Babylonian, Medo-Persian, Macedonian, and Roman. The one she currently has who is not her husband is Rome — the power she lives under at the time of the conversation, but to whom she is not covenanted. Jesus, the true husband, comes to her at Jacob's well, identifies Himself as the one she has been looking for, and she goes immediately to tell the city. The Samaritan woman at the well is the dispersed house of Israel, meeting her first husband at the place her father Jacob dug, on the way back to covenant.

The Children of the Bridechamber — The Twelve Apostles

Matthew 9:15 — Jesus calls His disciples specifically "the children of the Bridechamber." These were the ones in the inner chamber with the bridegroom, preparing the chamber for the bride. In the customs of that time, the children of the bridechamber — the bridegroom's inner company — went ahead of the bridegroom and prepared the bridal chamber. The apostles went ahead of Jesus Christ, preaching "Hear O Israel!" throughout the house of Israel, preparing the bride for the coming of the bridegroom.

They are also identified with the twelve foundations of New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:14) — their doctrine is the foundation of the city. And in Revelation 4, the twenty-four elders around the throne are most naturally understood as the twelve patriarchs (sons of Jacob) and the twelve apostles — the two headship companies of the Israel family, old and new covenant, together.

Matthew 19:28 — Jesus told His apostles specifically: "Ye which have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit in the throne of His glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel." This is the bridechamber company in their kingdom function — seated, judging, ruling alongside the king.

The Sons Who Marry the Land

Isaiah 62:5 — "As a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee." The bridegroom is Jesus Christ, singular. But it says sons — plural — shall marry the land. This is not incidental and it is not contradiction. The bridegroom always has a wedding party.

The pattern is established in Exodus 24: Moses was the mediator, but Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy elders were with him. They were sons of Israel who went up the mountain, saw God, and ate and drank with Him at the marriage feast. They were part of the bridegroom's company. They assisted. They witnessed. They participated in the covenant.

In Isaiah 62:5, the sons who marry the land are the bridegroom's company — the men of Israel who are part of the headship company, who know who the bridegroom is, who know who the bride is, who know what the covenant requires, and who are present and active in the marriage of the Lamb. This is not every Christian. It is not the general church population. It is a specific company — the ones who have oil in their lamps, who have kept the fire burning, who have been making the cry "Behold, the bridegroom cometh."

Romans 8:19 — "The earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God." The whole creation is waiting — not for a rapture, not for a disappearance of the saints, but for the manifestation of the sons of God. Sons who are visible. Sons who are present. Sons who arise on Zion. Obadiah says "saviors shall come up on Mount Zion" — not one savior, plural saviors, sons of God who bring deliverance to the Israelite people in the land.

The Ekklesia, the called-out congregation, will ultimately exercise rulership with Jesus Christ. Revelation 3:21 — "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne." Revelation 2:26-27 — "He that overcometh and keepeth My works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron." This rod of iron is not tyrannical government — it is the administration of the kingdom of Jesus Christ in accordance with the law of the Lord, the rod that cannot be changed. The kingdom grows — as the stone of Daniel 2:35 smote the image of the kingdoms of men, becoming a great mountain that filled the whole earth — until all the nations of this earth become totally subject to the law of God that comes forth from Israel, God's redeemed and restored kingdom.

The Ten Virgins — The Divorce, the Dispersion, and the Two Houses

The parable of the ten virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) is not a general parable about the church. It is a specifically structured parable about the two houses of Israel and their state at the time of the bridegroom's coming.

There were twelve tribes. Why ten virgins? Because in 721 BC, God divorced the northern house of Israel — the ten tribes. Judah and Benjamin (with a portion of Levi) were never formally divorced. They stayed home, so to speak. The ten tribes went into Assyrian dispersion, scattered into the nations, lost to history under their old name — but not lost to God.

So the ten virgins represent the ten-tribe house of Israel — the dispersed house, the divorced house, the lost sheep scattered into the wilderness of the nations. The parable is addressed to them. The cry "Behold, the bridegroom cometh" is the same cry that goes out to the dispersed house: your bridegroom is coming, prepare yourself.

Half of Israel is going to miss it. Five were prepared; five were not. Their lamps were going out. The oil — which represents not just the Holy Spirit but understanding, the knowledge of who they are and who is coming for them — had run dry in the foolish five. They had no reserve. They had been in a spiritual stupor, asleep, unprepared.

The cry "Behold, the bridegroom cometh" is not heard by all Israel equally. Some have oil — knowledge and understanding of their identity, the identity of the bridegroom, the nature of the covenant. Some do not. The foolish cannot borrow understanding from the wise at the last moment. This is not transferable at the hour of decision.

When the bridegroom came and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage — the door was shut. The foolish virgins came afterward saying "Lord, Lord, open to us." He answered, "I know you not." This is not a statement about salvation in the individual sense. This is a statement about national covenant readiness. Those who were not prepared, who did not know the bridegroom was coming, who had not kept their lamps burning — they were outside when the door shut.

SECTION VII. THE MARRIAGE SUPPER: WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IT IS NOT

The marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:9) is announced as a blessing: "Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb." But what is it?

It is not one long table with everyone sitting around it eating. The marriage supper is the culminating feast of the covenant relationship between God and Israel — the fulfillment of the type established in Exodus 24, where Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the seventy elders went up the mountain and saw God and ate and drank with him. That was the marriage supper of the first covenant. This is the marriage supper of the new and final covenant.

The sequence in Revelation 19 is fixed. Babylon falls and is destroyed (Revelation 17-18). Heaven erupts in praise for God's judgment on the whore (19:1-4). The announcement comes: "The marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready" (19:7). The blessed are called to the marriage supper (19:9).

The marriage supper may in fact be what precedes the announcement of verse 7 rather than what follows it — the "supper of the great God" in which the enemies of Israel are consumed may be the very supper that prepares the table. The destruction of Babylon and the enemies of God's people out of Zion is the clearing of the table. Then the marriage feast is set.

Those called to the supper are a specific company — the bridegroom's company, those who know who the bride is, who know who the bridegroom is, who have been preparing the way, who have oil in their lamps. The institutionalized denominational church system — with its rapture fables, its Talmud-friendly theology, its feminized Christ, its Gentile-bride doctrine — is not this company. It is, in the language of Revelation, showing signs of being daughters of the Whore. "Come out of her, my people" (Revelation 18:4) is a call addressed to the Israel people still entangled in this system. They are inside Babylon. They must come out. And they must not merely exit quietly — they are commanded to reward her as she has rewarded them, double unto her double according to her works (Revelation 18:6). The Israel people are not bystanders to the fall of Babylon. They are the instruments of it.

SECTION VIII. THE RAPTURE DOCTRINE: THE MOST DESTRUCTIVE TEACHING AGAINST GOD'S PEOPLE

The pre-tribulation secret rapture of the Church is not merely a theological error. It is the single most destructive doctrine that can be preached to the people of God at this moment in history. It teaches the Israel people that they have nothing to do with the destruction of the Antichrist world power — that before the battle begins, they will be removed, and the kingdom will be handed over to the enemy while they are safely in heaven.

This neutralizes the warrior people of God. It tells them to wait. It tells them the battle is not theirs. It tells them the destruction of Babylon will be handled supernaturally, without their participation. Every scripture examined in this study says the opposite. Daniel 7 — the saints possess the kingdom by taking it from the beast. Revelation 18 — God's people come out of Babylon by destroying it. Obadiah — the house of Jacob is a fire that devours Esau. 2Chronicles 15 — Israel enters covenant and removes those who will not seek God. Luke 19 — the servants occupy until the king comes and then the enemies are slain before him.

No rapture appears in any of these sequences. The people of God are present, active, and instrumental throughout. The rapture doctrine replaces this active, covenant-warrior role with passive waiting. It is, in effect, the doctrine that disarms God's army before the decisive battle.

The whole project of pushing prophecy into the future — whether through the rapture, a future millennial fulfillment of what is already accomplished in Christ, or a future turning of the Jews to Jesus — serves one purpose: it removes the obligation to deal with any of these realities now. The saints do not have to account for the word of God now. They can defer it indefinitely. This is the same error the disciples carried when Jesus spoke the parable of the nobleman — they thought the kingdom should immediately appear, so Jesus corrected the mechanism. But the modern church runs the correction in reverse: they push everything out until it can no longer press upon the conscience.

Daniel 7:19-22 — the fourth beast kingdom rules over all the earth, and the horn that rose among its ten horns "made war with the saints and prevailed against them: until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom." Daniel 7:26-27 — "The judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. And the kingdom and dominion… shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High." The saints — the covenant Israel people — possess the kingdom. They take away the dominion of the beast. They consume and destroy it unto the end. There is no rapture in this sequence. There is warfare, followed by the possession of the kingdom by those who fought and endured.

SECTION IX. THE BRIDE IS NOT READY: THE CONDITION AND THE CALL

The Central Condition

Revelation 19:7 is the most important and most overlooked half-verse in the book of Revelation: "His wife hath made herself ready." Note the exact language: not His bride-to-be, not His betrothed, not His bride-in-waiting — His wife. Since Pentecost, the remarriage has been in process. The new covenant commenced at Pentecost. The wife has been His wife since then. But the preparation for the full marriage supper — the final public celebration of what began at Pentecost — is ongoing.

The marriage cannot come to its consummation until this condition is met. The wife — Israel, Zion, the land, the people — must do something. Something must be prepared. The preparation is not optional and it is not automatic.

In Revelation 19:8, the bridal clothing is identified: "Fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints." The wedding garment of the Bride is righteousness. This is not a metaphor for justification by faith alone. It is a description of a covenant people living in covenant obedience — a people and a land operating under God's law in righteousness.

Isaiah 61:10 confirms the garment: "He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels." The fine linen of Revelation 19 is not a metaphysical abstraction. It is the visible righteousness of a people walking in covenant obedience. Joel 2:16 adds the assembly dimension: "Let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet." The national gathering precedes the coming of the bridegroom. The bride does not wait scattered and unprepared. She assembles. She comes out. She is ready when he arrives.

The Land Is Defiled — It Must Be Cleansed

Numbers 35:33-34 — "So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it." The land of Zion, the land that is to be married, must be cleansed of blood-guilt before the wedding can take place. The land cannot wear the robes of righteousness while it is polluted. The cleansing of the land is not optional. It is a precondition of the marriage.

The land is currently defiled. Murderers walk free. Abortions are performed by the millions — close to a third of all children that should be born are killed before birth. The shedding of innocent blood — which Psalm 106:38 calls directly polluting the land — is carried out on an industrial scale. The land cannot be cleansed by anything except the blood of those who shed innocent blood. The law is explicit. There is no substitute mechanism.

Psalm 106:34-39 names the specific sins that defiled Israel in the ancient land: they mingled with the heathen and learned their works; they served idols; they sacrificed their sons and daughters to devils; they shed innocent blood; the land was polluted with blood. Every one of these conditions is present in America today. The pattern is exact. The judgment follows the same pattern.

The Canaanite in the Land

Israel was commanded explicitly and repeatedly to destroy the Canaanites out of their land. They did not do it. Psalm 106:34 records the sin: "They did not destroy the nations concerning whom the Lord commanded them." That failure to act is identified as the root cause of every subsequent defilement and judgment.

The Canaanite religion — Baal worship — was a religion of organized sexual perversion, ritualized child sacrifice, and institutionalized destruction. God commanded the destruction of this religion and its practitioners because their continued presence guaranteed the corruption of Israel.

That same religion, under a new name and operating through new institutions, is present in the land today. The people who carry and propagate this religion identify themselves as Jews. Their presence in the land is the source of the defilement. Zechariah 14:21 — the final verse of the final chapter of Zechariah, describing the kingdom age: "And in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the Lord." The kingdom cannot be established, the bride cannot be clothed in righteousness, the land cannot be married, while the Canaanite is in the land.

Deuteronomy 7:1-6 — God gave Israel explicit instruction: when brought into the land, they were to smite the Canaanite nations and utterly destroy them. "Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them." The reason is stated: "For they will turn away thy son from following Me, that they may serve other gods" (v. 4). This is precisely what has happened. The instruction was not carried out. The result was apostasy.

Babylon Must Fall Before the Marriage

The sequence of events in Revelation is fixed. Mystery Babylon is destroyed (Revelation 18). The great voice in heaven shouts "Alleluia" for God's judgment on the whore (Revelation 19:1-6). Then — and only then — "the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself ready" (Revelation 19:7). The marriage cannot happen until Babylon falls. Babylon must fall before the wedding. This is not ambiguous or disputable — it is the explicit sequence of the text.

Revelation 18:4 — "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." Zion dwells with Babylon (Zechariah 2:7 — "Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon"). The entanglement with the Babylonian system — financial, political, educational, religious — must be broken. Israel must identify Babylon, withdraw from it, and destroy it.

What the Bride Must Do

The wife hath made herself ready. This is the condition. What that preparation requires, drawn from the full weight of scripture:

Know who she is. The Bride cannot be ready if she does not know she is the Bride. The Israel people — the Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, Germanic, Scandinavian, and kindred European peoples — must come to the knowledge of their identity. How can the bride be ready for the wedding if she doesn't know she's the bride? She wouldn't even show up.

Call God husband. Hosea 2:16 — Israel will call God "Ishi" (husband). The covenant people must turn to God as their God in a national, not merely individual, sense. The covenant is national. The marriage is national.

Come out of Babylon. The entanglement with the Babylonian system must be broken at every level.

Destroy Babylon. Revelation 18:6 — "Reward her even as she rewarded you." The Israel people are not bystanders to the fall of Babylon. They are the instruments of it.

Cleanse the land of bloodshed. Numbers 35:33 — the land cannot be cleansed except by the blood of those who shed it. Capital punishment for murder must be restored. The blood-pollution of the land through unpunished murder and mass abortion must be addressed through the law.

Remove the Canaanite from the land. Zechariah 14:21 — no Canaanite in the house of the Lord. Deuteronomy 7 — the Canaanite was to be destroyed. He was not destroyed. He returned. He is present now. His religion defiles the land. He must be removed.

Destroy false religion — the Baal system — from the land. As Josiah purged the high places, the groves, the carved images, and burned the bones of the Baal priests, so the false religious systems currently operating in the land of Israel — the entertainment, pornography, drug, and financial systems of the Canaanite-Jew, all expressions of the ancient Baal religion — must be destroyed.

Rebuild the house of God. Only after the land is purged does the building begin. Josiah destroyed first, then the house was repaired. The money that was flowing to Baal must flow to God.

Enter national covenant. As Josiah read the covenant to all the people, and as Asa required all the people to enter covenant with God — so the Israel people must come into a national covenant with the God of Israel. Not individual conversions. Not voluntary commitments by self-selected believers. National covenant, proclaimed by civil authority, enforced by law.

Occupy. Luke 19:13 — "Occupy till I come." The servants who are rewarded are those who carried on the master's business during his absence. The Israel people are called to occupy — to carry on the work of the kingdom, to maintain Christian civilization, to push back the darkness — until the king returns.

The Book of Ruth — The Whole Story in One

The Book of Ruth is the allegory of all of this compressed into one story. Boaz is the Kinsman Redeemer — Christ. Ruth is the remnant of Israel, the lost sheep who knows her heritage and will not let go of it even when told to return to her own people and her own gods. Naomi is the Old Testament wisdom that urges the remnant forward. The unnamed nearer kinsman who will not marry Ruth is the institutionalized church system — it has proximity to the inheritance but will not pay the redemption price, will not take the name, will not raise up the seed. Boaz steps in. He pays the price. He takes the name. He marries the bride. And the lineage that comes from that union runs directly to David, and through David to Christ. The whole story of the Bride is in Ruth — the estrangement, the kinship, the legal obstacle, the redeemer who steps forward, the marriage, and the restored inheritance. Ruth 4:13 is the marriage supper of the Lamb in miniature.

SECTION X. HISTORICAL TYPES: COVENANT REVIVAL AND THE PATTERN OF PREPARATION

Written for Those at the End of the Age

Paul writes in 1Corinthians 10:11 that the things recorded in the Old Testament "happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." Romans 15:4 — "Whatsoever things were written before time were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope."

The historical accounts of Israel turning to God are written specifically for those who live at the end of the age. They are not Jewish history from which Christians may borrow moral lessons. They are Israelite history — the history of the same people who in this age are called to prepare the Bride. The pattern in these accounts is consistent, and it differs from what the modern church expects in every significant detail.

Josiah — Cleanse First, Then Build

Josiah began to reign at eight years old and did what was right in the sight of God. In the twelfth year of his reign he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem. He destroyed the high places, the groves, the carved images, the molten images. He broke down the altars of Baal. He cut down the idols. He burned the bones of the priests on their own altars. He cleansed the land — not just the capital city, but the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim, Simeon, and Naphtali. The entire land of Israel.

Then, in the eighteenth year of his reign — after the land had been purged — when they went into the house of the Lord to repair it, the high priest found the book of the law. They did not find the law first and then use its preaching to drive out the false religion. They drove out the false religion first. Then God opened up His word in their midst.

The modern expectation — preach, convert people one by one, build the church membership until the nation tips over into righteousness — is exactly backward. Josiah did not hold evangelistic crusades among the Baal worshippers. He destroyed their altars. He burned their priests' bones. He cleansed the land. Then God gave them the book. Then the king read the covenant to the whole nation. Then the national revival came.

Asa — God with Them When They Were with Him

Asa did that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God. He took away the altars of the strange gods. He broke down the images. He cut down the groves. He commanded Judah to seek the Lord and keep His commandments. Then when an enemy came against him with a host of one million and three hundred chariots, Asa prayed, and God destroyed the enemy before him.

After the victory, the prophet Azariah came to Asa with this word: "The Lord is with you, while ye be with Him; and if ye seek Him, He will be found of you; but if ye forsake Him, He will forsake you" (2Chronicles 15:2). This is the divine principle operating in history. God is with Israel when Israel is with God. The withdrawal of God's protection and blessing is not permanent judgment. It is corrective pressure intended to produce turning. When Israel turns, God is immediately found of them.

What did this turning look like in national practice? 2Chronicles 15:12-13 — "And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul; that whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman." This is Israel's revival. Not a voluntary altar call. A national covenant with teeth. Those who would not seek the Lord God of Israel would be put to death. The people swore to this with a loud voice, with shouting and trumpets. All Judah rejoiced at the oath. And God was found of them, and gave them rest. This is kingdom revival. It is not what the modern church means by revival.

The Revival That Is Coming

The pattern established in 2Chronicles is clear: Israel turns not through mass evangelism but through tribulation. The book of Judges records six cycles. Six times Israel turned away. Six times God put them under captivity to their enemies. Six times, in their trouble, they turned and cried to God. Six times God delivered them. The pressure of captivity — not the preaching of ministers — produced the turning.

This is the pattern for the end of the age. America is not going to be preached back to Christ. America is going to turn to Christ through tribulation and trouble. When the trouble becomes severe enough — when the captivity to Babylon becomes impossible to ignore — the Israel people will turn. And when they turn, God will immediately be found of them, as He always is.

When a leader arises who takes an openly firm stand on Jesus Christ — who stands up and says: we are the Israel people; this is God's nation; the reason we are in trouble is that we have violated His law; these things have come upon us because God is judging His people to make them turn — the people will respond. They fell to Asa in abundance when they saw that the Lord his God was with him (2Chronicles 15:9). The people will respond to the man God raises up.

SECTION XI. LUKE 19 AND OBADIAH: ENEMIES, SAVIOURS, AND THE FINAL ORDER

The Parable of the Nobleman — Against Passive Waiting

Luke 19:11 — Jesus spoke this parable "because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear." The disciples expected an immediate kingdom. Jesus taught this parable to remove that expectation and to outline what must transpire before the kingdom comes in fullness. This parable covers the entire Christian era — from Christ's departure to his return.

A nobleman (Jesus Christ) goes into a far country to receive a kingdom and return. He gives ten pounds to ten servants with the instruction: "Occupy till I come." Two categories of people are then described.

Servants — those who receive the nobleman's commission and carry out his business during his absence.

Citizens — those in the kingdom who send a message after the nobleman saying, "We will not have this man to reign over us" (v. 14). These citizens are not abroad. They are in the kingdom. They are inside it, actively refusing the nobleman's rulership. This is the identification made in John 19:14-15: when Pilate presented Jesus to the Jews, the chief priests cried "Away with Him, crucify Him." When Pilate asked "Shall I crucify your king?" the chief priests answered: "We have no king but Caesar." They denied His kingship to His face. This is what the citizens in Luke 19:14 represent — the people who have been in the kingdom, who have had access to the word, who know who the king is, and who have refused His rule.

The Third Servant — A Warning to the Occupiers

The first servant returns his pound having gained ten more. He is called a good servant and given authority over ten cities. The second servant returns having gained five. He is likewise commended and given authority over five cities.

The third is not called "the third" but "another" — a different designation. He returns the pound as he received it, hidden in a napkin. He claims he kept it safe because he knew the nobleman was an austere man who takes up what he laid not down and reaps what he did not sow — in other words, he accuses the nobleman of being a thief. Jesus says he is judged out of his own mouth: if you believed I was a thief, why didn't you put my money to usury (theft by another name) for me? The pound is taken from him and given to the servant who had ten.

The detail about usury is deliberately ironic. The mainstream church today uses this very passage to claim Jesus authorized charging interest on money. In fact, Jesus says to this man: "Out of thine own mouth shall I judge thee." The man accused Jesus of being a thief — and Jesus responds, "If you think I'm a thief, why didn't you steal for Me?" The man is condemned for calling Jesus dishonest, not for failing to earn interest. Those who teach that Jesus authorized usury from this passage are condemning themselves out of their own mouths — because the only reading that supports usury is the reading that makes Jesus a thief.

The Final Order — Luke 19:27

"But those Mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before Me."

This is Jesus Christ speaking. Not a general. Not an Old Testament king. The risen Lord Himself, upon His return, issues the order: bring those who refused My rulership and slay them before Me. This is not metaphor. This is not allegory. It is the conclusion of the parable — the completion of the sequence. After the servants have been rewarded for their occupying, after the citizens have been identified as those who would not have Him reign, the final order is given. The enemies are to be slain.

2Chronicles 15:13 — when Israel entered into covenant to seek the Lord, whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel was to be put to death. This principle, established in the Old Testament historical type, is confirmed in the New Testament by the words of Jesus Christ Himself. The removal of those who refuse God's rulership from the land of Israel is not a vindictive excess. It is the covenant requirement. It is what makes the land ready. It is what makes the Bride ready.

Obadiah — The Birthright Battle and the Decree Against Edom

The great conflict at the close of this age is the battle between Jacob and Esau. Esau sold his birthright. His name became Edom, meaning red. He married Canaanite wives (Genesis 26:34-35; 36:2, 8, 9, 19, 43). His descendants intermingled thoroughly with the Canaanite peoples. The Jewish encyclopedia confirms in their own reference works: "Edom is in modern Jewry."

World Communism chose the color red for itself and called its system the Red International. Red is the meaning of Edom. The connection is not incidental.

Esau and Jacob are still contending for the birthright. Esau through his descendants — Edom, Canaanite-Jewry — is attempting to steal back what he sold to Jacob thousands of years ago: the covenant birthright, the national identity, and the kingdom promises. The entire apparatus of Communism, international banking, media control, political subversion, and cultural corruption is the mechanism of this birthright theft.

Obadiah is a one-chapter prophecy addressed entirely to Edom. Verse 1 — the Lord God says concerning Edom: "Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle." God himself calls the nations to battle against Edom.

Verses 8-9 — God will destroy the wise men of Edom, remove their intelligence and their capacity to plan, so that they will be destroyed.

Verses 17-18 — "But upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble; and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it."

The house of Jacob — the Israel people, the Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, Germanic, Scandinavian, and kindred peoples — will kindle and devour the house of Esau as fire consumes stubble. Not one of the house of Esau will remain. This is not conversion. This is not missionary work. It is destruction. The Lord has spoken it. The prophet records it. The destruction of Edom is as much a part of the biblical program as the marriage of the Bride.

Those who preach that we must evangelize all people — including these people — and that none can be ordained to destruction are preaching against the word of God. God says there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau. That is final.

The Saviours on Zion

Obadiah 1:21 adds the identity of the agents: "And saviours shall come up on Mount Zion to judge the Mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD's." Not one savior — plural saviors. The Ecclesia, the called-out congregation from within Israel, those who know the gospel and have administrative authority — they are the saviours who come up on Mount Zion. The mountain of Esau is the kingdom of Esau-Edom operating in the earth today.

Amos 9:11-12 is inseparable from this. The Lord promises to raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen — to repair its breaches, raise up its ruins, and restore it as in former days. This is the restoration of the Davidic kingdom, the united covenant order under Yahweh's rule, broken down when Israel divided after Solomon. Verse 12 names what accompanies that restoration: the possession of a remnant. But which remnant? Here the text requires precision. The Masoretic Text reads Edom — Strong's H123. The Septuagint reads Adam — Strong's H120, meaning mankind, Adamkind. Only one letter separates the two words in Hebrew: אדום and אדם. The difference is not minor. It determines the entire scope of the restoration promise.

The question is settled by the New Testament itself. At the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15:16-17, James quotes this passage directly — and he quotes the Septuagint reading. He is not announcing a final dealing with Edom. He is announcing the gathering of men of Adamkind who are called by Yahweh's name, under the restored tabernacle of David. The apostolic usage carries determinative interpretive weight. Dead Sea Scroll fragments, the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia notes, and a number of academic commentaries support the H120 reading as textually viable. But it is the quotation in Acts 15 that closes the question: the Spirit-inspired declaration of James at the Jerusalem Council follows the Septuagint. What the restoration of the tabernacle of David accomplishes is not merely the destruction of Edom's remnant — it is the gathering of a household of Adamkind under the rule of the Lord. The two things are not contradictory. Edom is judged — Obadiah is plain on that. But the positive scope of the restoration is wider: it encompasses the remnant of Adam's race who seek the Lord and are called by His name.

Zechariah 14:21 — "And in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts." The kingdom age is a Canaanite-free zone. The preparation of the Bride requires the removal of the Canaanite from the land. Joel 2:17 connects: "Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare Thy people, O Lord, and give not Thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them." The cry against heathen rulership is the cry of the saviours on Zion. It is the cry that precedes the marriage. It is the cry that will not stop until the kingdom is the LORD's.

SECTION XII. THE COVENANT SUMMARY: WHAT ISRAEL MUST BECOME

Abraham looked for "a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God" (Hebrews 11:10). He did not know exactly what he was looking for. He knew it was a city — a structured, governed, founded reality — and that God was its architect. He knew it had foundations that no human hand had laid. He was looking, in faith, across the centuries to what we are now looking back upon: the city that is the Bride, the New Jerusalem, the kingdom that comes from within the history and land of the covenant people who are the physical descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob.

That city does not descend from heaven as an ethereal vision into a world unchanged. It comes out of a people who have been changed — purged, covenanted, clothed in righteousness, prepared. The whole of this study has been an account of that preparation: who the Bride is, how the marriage was contracted and broken and recontracted, who the people are by blood and by supernatural origin, where the land of Zion is, what must be done before the consummation can come, who surrounds the wedding, what the supper is, and who the enemies are that must be cleared before the table is set.

The preparation is not passive. The Bride makes herself ready. She does not drift into readiness. She is not raptured into it. She assembles, she purges, she covenants, she occupies, she fights, she inherits. Isaiah 61:11 is the description of how this righteousness comes: "as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all nations." It grows like a garden. The Protestant Reformation was part of it. The great awakenings were part of it. It is still growing. It has not stopped.

The Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, Germanic, Scandinavian, and kindred European peoples — Israel by blood and by covenant — stand at the hinge of this age. The pressure upon us is not random. It is targeted. The same enemy that stood at the gate in Esther's day, that stood at the throne in Haman's scheme, that stood in the temple courts when Jesus overturned the tables, stands today in the institutions of finance, media, law, education, and government, pressing with all his weight against the covenant people and their land. The pressure is the measure of the stakes. The birthright that Esau sold and Jacob holds is not a small thing. It is the kingdom of God on earth.

What must Israel become? She must become what she was always called to be: a holy nation, a kingdom of priests, a people governed by the law of the Lord, dwelling safely in the land, with the Canaanite gone and the land cleansed, with every tribe in its appointed place bearing its appointed gifts, with the sons of God manifested in the earth, with the saviours come up on Mount Zion, with the enemies destroyed and the table cleared. She must become the city Abraham was looking for — founded by God, built in truth, walled in light, governed in righteousness, open to the nations that walk in her light, and closed to every liar, every defiler, every abomination.

This is not a distant dream. It is the program of God, declared by every prophet, confirmed in every type, ratified at Calvary, and advancing in the earth. The mustard seed was planted. It is growing. It will become greater than all the herbs of the field. The stone cut without hands is rolling. It has already struck the image at its feet. The kingdoms of men are already crumbling. The great mountain that fills the whole earth is rising.

The remarriage will come. The Bride will be ready. His wife will have made herself ready. And New Jerusalem — the covenant city, the Bride of the Lamb, the Israel of the nations regathered and restored in the land of Zion — will be the praise of the earth, as it was always intended to be: a city set on a hill, the light of the world, the seat of the government of Jesus Christ, the place where the law goes forth and the word of the Lord is heard in all the earth.

The Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And God said it: so shall your seed and your name remain.

What Scripture Actually Says — Named Plainly

The phrase "Bride of Christ" does not exist in the Bible. It is not in the Old Testament. It is not in the New Testament. It entered Christian teaching through Rome, which declared itself the mystical Bride of the heavenly Bridegroom, and it has never been examined since. Remove it.

What the Bible does say is this. Jesus Christ is the Bridegroom. His Bride is national Israel — the Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, Germanic, Scandinavian, and kindred European peoples who are the literal lineal descendants of the twelve tribes of Jacob. The Bride is identified in Revelation 21 not as a body of Gentile believers but as a holy city whose gates bear the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. She is a city. She is a land — "thy land shall be married" (Isaiah 62:4). She is a people governed by covenant law. She is a terrestrial reality, not a celestial abstraction.

The Ekklesia — the Body of Christ — is not the Bride. The Body is masculine because its Head is masculine. The Bride is feminine in every description. They are related — the Ekklesia is called out from within the national body of Israel — but they are not the same entity. Conflating them produces what it has always produced: a theological system in which the masculine and feminine are inverted, Israel is displaced, the marriage of the Lamb is misidentified, and the covenant people do not know who they are or who is coming for them.

The correct title is the one the angel himself uses in Revelation 21:9: the Bride, the Lamb's Wife. Not the Bride of Christ. Not the Church triumphant. Not the body of believers caught up in a rapture. The Bride. The Lamb's Wife. National Israel. The covenant family. The people of the land. The wife He divorced, redeemed at Calvary, and is coming to marry again.
